A Flourishing Sustainable City
Join the sustainability journey for Chiang Mai
The Chiang Mai Nayu Foundation works for the transformation of Chiang Mai into a thriving example of a healthy and sustainable city in Southeast Asia. We actively seek collaborations in Chiang Mai with partner organisations, private businesses, local government offices, and individuals of all ages. Sustainability and wellbeing can only be achieved together.
What do we mean by ‘sustainability’?
For Chiang Mai Nayu, it means a city exists in harmony with nature, with balanced economy, as an inclusive society, and with personal wellbeing at heart. Sustainability requires preserving natural resources, restoring landscapes, reusing materials for mutual benefit and healthy living. And in doing so, learning from past experiences. We envision a city with social participation, innovative businesses, and healthy people existing in harmony with nature. To achieve sustainability in Chiang Mai, we want your participation. Everyone can set an example. What would you like to improve?

Our Message to You
With Chiang Mai Nayu, we aim to support the residential community to be informed about Chiang Mai’s current state and work towards a sustainable future for the city. We strive to restore and preserve ecosystems that support animals, plants, and people in dynamic coexistence. We need to pay attention to the mistakes in land and water resource use, so we do not face a future of unmanageable urban sprawl and superhighways. We need to pay attention to increasing the equity of opportunities in our city, so everyone can enjoy a dynamic and desirable city. We need to rethink business for a ‘circular economy’ approach and update technologies and our way of thinking, so that we can create sustainable local jobs. And we need to prioritize individual wellbeing and happiness to live flourishing lives. We envision to make Chiang Mai a model sustainable city in Southeast Asia. And we believe this requires collaboration from all people, institutions, and businesses. We hope to inspire the community to participate in creating a sustainable future for Chiang Mai.
